To study on a Nagasaki University Scholarship in Japan you need to live and study at Nagasaki University. They offer two years scholarships covering tuition fees and maintenance costs. In addition, every scholarship holder receives money from donations made by alumni, which is awarded annually. As well as a monthly allowance of about 18,000 Yen (or US$182) – one-third of which is covered by Nagasaki University.
Japanese government scholarships
In order to be eligible, you must have at least a 2nd class upper graduate degree from a Japanese or foreign university (a Bachelor’s Degree + 3 years of working experience is also acceptable). Your annual income should not exceed 20 million yen ($200k USD) and your family assets should not exceed 30 million yen ($300k USD). The maximum age limit is 45 years old.

The university has agreements with 50 universities around the world, allowing students to benefit from Nagasaki’s double degree programs and also allowing them to participate in inter-university exchange activities while still at Nagasaki.

The city of Nagasaki?
Nagasaki is one of my favorite cities in Japan because it has such a great atmosphere. The city itself is on an island, so if you find yourself traveling from another part of Nagasaki Prefecture, you’ll need to take a ferry or a bridge over to reach it. Once you’re there, though, I highly recommend spending some time walking around Nishizaka Hill—you can really get some nice views of both of Nagasaki Harbor and Shimonoseki Strait from up there.
