1. International Undergraduate Scholarship
The International Undergraduate Scholarship is aimed at high-achieving international students who want to study for a Bachelor’s degree in Melbourne. The scholarship is valued at approximately $13,000 per year (subject to change).
This scholarship will cover your tuition fees and provide you with a living allowance for up to four years. International Undergraduate Scholarship recipients must also enroll as full-fee-paying students (i.e. fee penalties apply if you defer your course or withdraw from any units once you have commenced study). 2. International Postgraduate Coursework Scholarship
This scholarship is available for full-fee paying international students studying a coursework Master’s program at Melbourne. To be eligible, you must: Be a citizen of one of our Pacific Island Countries (listed below) or be an Australian permanent resident with citizenship from one of these countries.
Have completed your undergraduate degree in one of our Pacific Island Countries (or at another university with which an agreement has been signed); have scored between 8.0 and 9.0 on your International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test; have received your first class Honours result for your undergraduate degree.

For students from outside Australia who want to study in Melbourne, The University offers two scholarships for the International Honours Program: one for incoming exchange students and another for students enrolling in a taught master’s program. 4. Faculty & Centre Excellence Scholarships
Melbourne Business School (MBS) offers excellent scholarships for faculty, postgraduate business studies, MBA, and master’s students. The Centre for Energy-Efficient Urban Transport awards excellent scholarships for both Ph.D. and master’s students. Other faculties offering Melbourne University scholarships include law, medicine, arts, and education.
Various scholarship opportunities are open at these centers. Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree with a minimum GPA of 7 out of 10 or equivalent. They also need to demonstrate financial need or study in Australia or New Zealand as a citizen or permanent resident to be eligible for some scholarships. The minimum GPA requirement varies depending on different Melbourne University scholarships.
5. Dean’s Excellence Scholarship
The Dean’s Excellence Scholarship is a means-tested scholarship that is awarded based on outstanding academic achievement in previous studies. The Dean’s Excellence Scholarship provides $10,000 per year for up to three years, commencing in 2025. It may be held concurrently with other scholarships where applicable. Students will be considered for both undergraduate and postgraduate level study at Melbourne University.
6. Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarship
Each faculty award this prestigious scholarship at Melbourne University and goes to students who have demonstrated their academic excellence through high ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) scores, participation in extra-curricular activities, and an extensive personal statement.
It amounts to $12,000 a year for three years. There are a total of ten Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarships up for grabs across all eight faculties – if you’re aiming for one of these scholarships in particular, try to gain entry into that faculty. If not, be sure your resume looks impressive enough for any faculty – though it’s hard not to get excited about heading off on new adventures after studying in such a great city as Melbourne!
7. Arts & Commerce Excellence Scholarship
The Commerce Excellence Scholarship is for students with a sound academic record in Commerce at Melbourne High School and excellent achievements in both Commerce and extracurricular activities. This scholarship is worth $2,000 per year and is paid as a school award.
To be eligible for this scholarship you must have achieved an ATAR (or equivalent) band of 9850 or above, have a high level of involvement in your school’s extracurricular activities, demonstrate leadership qualities beyond normal expectations, and have exemplary results at VCE level (A minimum A+ average). In addition, you must also achieve an ATAR band of 9850 or above. Only applications from students who attended Melbourne High School will be considered.
8. Business Development & Entrepreneurship Award
This award is designed for those entering a business or entrepreneurship field. Nominations may be made by any individual or organization, but can only be submitted online.
The nominee needs not reside in Victoria but must have entered, or intend to enter postgraduate study at an eligible higher education institution in Victoria. Nominees must hold an unconditional offer from a higher education institution in Victoria and will commence their studies.
