The Saskatchewan University Scholarships (SUS) are awarded on academic merit, with priority given to students graduating from high schools in Saskatchewan. In 2023, five different scholarships were awarded: four of them valued at $1,500 each and one valued at $5,000. The $5,000 scholarship can be used toward tuition or living expenses but must be paid back through payroll deductions if it is used for tuition.

What criteria do they use to assess my application?

Before you apply, you should familiarize yourself with which criteria will be used to assess each student’s application. In most cases, Universities only assess applications based on one or two criteria (for example academic ability and extra-curricular activities). If you check these off, there’s little else that needs to be done on your part. Of course, there are some scholarships where both merit and financial need are assessed.

What happens after I have been awarded a scholarship?

After you’ve been awarded a scholarship, we’ll send you an email with instructions on how to register and pay for classes. You will then be able to log into AESO Online with your student number and PIN, and select Saskatchewan Universities International Scholarship (SUI) Program under Payment Arrangements. From there, follow any additional instructions on how to make payments.

How will I be notified if I am selected as a recipient?

If you are selected as a Saskatchewan University Scholarship recipient, you will be notified via email. You will have 30 days to accept or decline your award. You can learn more about how to accept or decline awards here: (link)

How much money will I receive as a scholarship recipient?

Students who receive full-time scholarships will receive between $1,200 and $10,000/year. Some Saskatchewan students have also received part-time awards, ranging from $600 to $2,400/year.
