Scholarships Options at Seoul National University:

Undergraduates and graduates may apply for an overseas scholarship at Seoul National University. Below are the specifics of the scholarships provided by SNU University.

Undergraduate Scholarships: 

Students may apply for the programs before or during the admission application period.

Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP):

  • Total tuition: 8 semesters of tuition-free study
  • Monthly living expenses: 900,000 KRW
  • Airfare: one round-trip economy ticket
  • A yearly cost of learning Korean

Overseas Koreans Scholarship:

  • Up to eight semesters of total tuition exemption (but only under certain circumstances)
  • Living costs: 900,000 KRW per month for a maximum of 8 semesters.
  • A round-trip ticket in an economy class
  • Fee waiver for six months at the Language Education Institute for Korean language instruction
  • Subscription to medical insurance (private company)

Graduate Scholarships:

Students may apply for the programs before or during the admission application period.

 SNU President Fellowship Program (SPF):

  • Total tuition exemption is available for a maximum of six semesters.
  • Living costs: 1,550,000 to 2,000,000 KRW monthly for three to four years.
  • An economy class round-trip ticket using the GTS system
  • (Only evening classes are offered during regular semesters) Korean language instruction
  • Reimbursement of National Health Insurance premiums

 Graduate Scholarship for Excellent Foreign Students (GSFS)

  • Total tuition exemption is available for a maximum of four semesters. Minimum monthly living expenses of 500,000 KRW (varies according to recipients’ majors)

Overseas Koreans Scholarship:

  • When requirements are completed, total tuition exemption is granted for a maximum of 4 semesters.
  • Monthly living expenses: 900,000 KRW for four semesters, at most
  • a round-trip ticket in an economy class
  • Fee waiver for six months at the Language Education Institute for Korean language instruction
  • subscription to medical insurance (private company)

Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP/GKS):

  • Total tuition: waivers for the Master’s program’s first four semesters and the Ph.D. program’s first six semesters.
  • Monthly living expenses: 1,000,000 KRW
  • Airfare: one round-trip economy ticket
  • Fee for one year of required Korean language instruction * If students do not complete TOPIK grade 3 in one year, they are not permitted to enroll in a degree program.
  • Other: health insurance, a research fund, printing costs for the thesis, a settlement, and return costs.

As I mentioned above, their application deadline is too short, so please finish these things beforehand.

  • Statement of Purpose and Study Plan
  • Two transcripts, degrees (bachelor’s or master’s), or letters of recommendation.
  • the applicant’s passport photocopy
  • Other official documents stating the nationality of the applicant,
  • copies of the passports of both parents
  • Other official documents state the race of both parents.
  • Additional official documents attesting to the applicant’s parent-child relationship

How to Apply for the SNU South Korea Scholarship?

To apply for the SNU scholarship, applicants must check if they meet the eligibility criteria. This includes being an international student who has not previously studied at a Korean university, having a high school diploma or equivalent qualification, and having excellent academic records. Applicants must also demonstrate proficiency in English or Korean by taking language tests such as TOEFL or TOPIK.
